The Song of Bernadette
This may be my favorite film back in the 1980s, this was the first film that I bought on VHS and for several years we would watch it as a family and discuss it. My son has it on DVD and he has carried on the tradition Jennifer Jones won an Academy Award as best actress for her reverent portrayal on this wonderful and wondrous saint.
In a world where our heroes are often comic book superheroes, I remember a time when saints were our superheroes. St. Bernadette is my Wonder Woman since the Blessed Virgin Mary revealed to her that she was the Immaculate Conception.
The film was based o a novel by Franz Werfel' who was a German Jewish writer who was taught by Catholic nuns where he was a child.
