The Slipper and the Rose

A Commentary by Sarah Lyon

Spoiler Alert. Cinderella is Catholic. Prince Charming is Catholic. Add they are married by a bishop in the final scene.

There is also a moral subtext to the film when we see how some spend their lives helping others while suffering similar difficulties.

This is also a musical with some occasional witty lyrics including one number about the family crypt.

As the trailer demonstrates, it has an exceptionally talented British cast with the exception of Richard Chamberlain who is American. Geema Craven is radiant and has a beautiful voice.

Here is my favorite musical number in the film. (Does anyone remember how to waltz?)

The Slipper and the Rose is a perfect family film.
