Fr. Philip Scherer, O.S.M. died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Village, Chicago, IL. He was 95 years of age and a priest for 60 years.
Fr. Scherer spent many years teaching at St. Philip High School in Chicago as well as the area parishes of Seven Holy Founders, Calumet Park; Assumption in Chicago; St. Donatus, Blue Island; and Annunciata in Chicago. He also served as Principal at Quincy Catholic Boys High School in downstate Illinois.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
