Obituary of Father Damian M. Charboneau, O.S.M. by Friar Servants of Mary – USA Province


Fr. Damian  M .Charboneau,  O.S.M., died on Good Friday, April 6, 2012 at St. Joseph's Village, Chicago. He was eighty-seven years of age and a priest for sixty-one years. He was born July 1, 1924 in Chicago and entered the Servite Order in 1943. After his ordination in 1950, Fr. Damian was involved in teaching and parish work. He also spent many years in the African missions. After studying Spanish in 1981-82, he ministered among the Hispanic population of Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

Since 2003, Fr. Damian lived in retirement at Assumption Priory, Chicago, where he assisted the parish and volunteered at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. Visitation was Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 3:00 -9:00 PM at Assumption Church, Chicago. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM also at Assumption Church with interment in the Servite Section of Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
