Fr. Michael Joseph Boehm died on Friday, July 31, 2015. Fr. Boehm was the Associate Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Chicago.

Fr. Boehm was born in Chicago on August 18, 1949. He attended St. Theodore School and Quigley Preparatory Seminary South.  Fr. Boehm received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Niles College of Loyola in 1971.  He graduated from the University of St. Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary with his Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained into the priesthood on May 14, 1975, by John Cardinal Cody, Archbishop of Chicago.

Fr. Boehm’s first assignment was at St. Mary of the Lake Parish in Chicago', serving as the Associate Pastor for five years. He also served as Associate Pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Waukegan (closed in 1991) and St. Bonaventure Parish in Chicago (closed in 2008). In 1984, Fr. Boehm was named Pastor of St. Ludmilla Parish (closed in 1990), serving for six years before moving to Immaculate Conception Parish on 88th Street, in 1990.  

In 1991, Fr. Boehm moved to Immaculate Conception Parish in Waukegan (closed in 2009) and served as Associate Pastor until 1995, when he was named Coordinator for the Lake County Hispanic Ministry. He served in this capacity until 2005. During this time, Fr. Boehm was a resident at SS. Joseph and Bartholomew Parish (closed in 1996) and later, Holy Family Parish (closed in 2009), both in Waukegan.

Fr. Boehm was named Pastor of St. Maurice Parish on Hoyne Avenue in Chicago in 2006. The parish closed in 2008. From there, he moved to Blessed Sacrament Parish on South Hermitage Avenue and served as Associate Pastor until his passing.

In addition to his pastoral work, Fr. Boehm was very active in the Hispanic community. He served as a faculty member for the Lay Ministry Program, “Liderazgo Pastoral,at the University of St. Mary of the Lake / Mundelein Seminary Fr. Boehm was also the Spiritual Director for the Spanish Cursillo and the Little Village Pre-Cana Team.
